In 1995, Rohm and Haas Company, Pharmaceutical Sourcing Group Americas, COGNIS and Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. made a commitment to the local community and its environment by forming a unique, voluntary coalition with the Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisors, known as the Lower Gwynedd Industrial Compact.

Activities

As members of the Compact, we acknowledge the importance of the responsible use of hazardous substances for the health and safety of those who live and work in Lower Gwynedd Township and the importance of the prevention of accidents as well as the need to be prepared for emergencies.

The Compact educates citizens on the use of chemicals, and our efforts have helped to enhance public understanding that hazardous materials are necessary and can be used safely and effectively. The Compact also provides a system for citizens to obtain information about concerns related to the daily operations of the various industries in the township.

The industrial members of the Compact provide a strong economic base for the Township, and the Compact ensures that the environment is not secondary to economic objectives.

The success of the Lower Gwynedd Industrial Compact demonstrates how government and industry can use their resources to effectively address the shared, common concern for the environment of the community where we live and work.
