OPEN BURNING IN LOWER GYWNEDD TOWNSHIP
Text Size: A A A

On April 14, 2015, the Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisors voted to eliminate any previous exceptions in the Township Code that would allow any Open Burning in the Township.

Therefore:

The Township will now enforce the regulations in the Township Fire Code based on the International Fire Code.

NO OPEN BURNING IS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME. There are no "burning months". This regulation applies to all burning of leaves, sticks, branches, trash, debris or any similar material.

Use of commercially available devices--Chimenias, BBQ Grills and similar portable outdoor fireplaces--is not prohibited by the Fire Code.

Constructed fireplaces, BBQs and similar site fabricated items must be submitted for review by the building department prior to construction.

The Fire Code allows bonfires and recreational fires. Permission for bonfires or recreational fires will require a written request submitted at the Township at least one week in advance of the planned event. Each such fire request shall be treated as a one-time event.
