How Do I...?

In Memory of Richard Lawn

Richard Lawn, dedicated 15 year Lower Gwynedd police officer, husband, and father, died July 28th, 2003 following treatment for injuries sustained in a patrol car crash.

"He was known for being the first on the scene, and always there for back-up," recalls Ed Brandt, Supervisors Chairman. Lieutenant Paul Kenny remembers his love for his family. "That's all he talked about."

Officer Lawn is the beloved husband of Lauren and devoted father to Katelyn, Kelly, Connor and Megan, of Upper Gwynedd. He was the eldest son of Richard and Mary Lawn and one of 11 brothers and sisters.

When not at work, Richard coached sports teams at St. Rose of Lima and Nor-Gwyn Little League. A 1981 graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School, he held a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Montgomery County Lodge 14. Richard was an avid Penn State football fan as well as a fan of every sports team his children were members of.
